SpicyChat review 2026: price, languages, and is it worth it?

SpicyChat is one of the most widely used AI character platforms, with a vast library of community-created chatbots (more than 375,000 characters listed on September 30, 2026). Characters are organised by tags such as romance, fantasy, anime and scenario, and you interact with them through text roleplay. You can also create your own characters and a “persona”: the profile that describes you within the story.

The operator is NextDay AI Incorporated, based in Montréal (Canada), with subsidiaries in Delaware (NextDay AI USA Inc) and Cyprus (NextDay AI EU Ltd), according to its subscription page and terms of service. It also operates GirlfriendGPT. In our comparison, SpicyChat is listed under “Roleplay”: it is the go-to option if you want the widest choice of characters.

SpicyChat is primarily a chat platform; images and voice are available through paid subscriptions. According to its subscription page, checked on October 6, 2026:

• Unlimited messages and character creation, including on the free plan (with ads and queues).
• Memory increases with each plan: 4K, 8K and then 32K context, a memory manager and “semantic memory 2.0” from True Supporter onwards.
• Images in conversations (unlimited with True Supporter), including for private chatbots with I’m All In.
• Text-to-speech: listen to AI responses with the I’m All In plan.
• Group chats with automatic responses, and up to 100 personas depending on your plan.

“4K, 8K or 32K memory” refers to the context size: a larger context helps the character remember more of what was said earlier. For a comparison, see our guide to AI girlfriend apps with memory.

SpicyChat’s core features are free. Paid plans add memory, images, better models and voice. Prices checked on its subscription page on October 6, 2026:

Annual billing saves you 17%, according to the same page. The terms of service state that SpicyChat may change its prices, so check the total before subscribing. You can find the current offer on our SpicyChat promo code page.

Yes. SpicyChat is available in English. On October 6, 2026, spicychat.ai also offered French, German and Spanish versions, including menus, the subscription page and help content. Most characters are written in English. You can chat in other languages, but response quality depends on the character and model you choose.

Public reviews are critical: on October 6, 2026, SpicyChat had a 2.1/5 rating on Trustpilot from 61 reviews (52% one-star and 8% five-star). The company has not claimed the page, and the sample is small relative to its user base.

Complaints mainly focus on automatic moderation, which reviewers describe as inconsistent, and support that is difficult to reach. Others report repetitive or inconsistent responses depending on the character. Positive reviews praise the generous free plan and say the paywall appears later than on many similar platforms. Our advice: use the free plan to find characters you like before paying, then start with Get a Taste.

SpicyChat is aimed at adults who enjoy text roleplay and want a huge choice of characters without paying upfront.

• A good fit if: you want to try unlimited messaging for free, enjoy exploring characters created by other users, and want to customise your persona and scenarios.
• A poor fit if: you want one dedicated companion with realistic photos and videos, characters written in languages other than English, or responsive support.

The community guidelines prohibit content involving minors, real people or non-consensual situations. Our AI girlfriend privacy guide covers what to check before signing up.

The best SpicyChat alternatives depend on what you want: a similar roleplay experience, a visual companion or better memory. Our comparison includes:

• GirlfriendGPT: the same operator, with a community character library featuring images, voice and video.
• Candy AI: an AI girlfriend available in English with images and videos, at $13.99/month or $3.99/month on a 12-month plan.
• Nomi AI: a leading option for long-term memory.
• Swipey AI: an all-in-one option at $7.99/month.
